Nibbles: Chef Jen, Boulder’s Frasca are James Beard nominees

Congratulations to chef Jennifer Jasinski of Denver’s Rioja and Euclid Hall restaurants for her well-deserved finalist nomination in the Best Chef: Southwest category in the 2013 James Beard Awards. Kudos also go out to Bobby Stuckey and the crew at Frasca in Boulder for their nod in the Outstanding Wine Program category. Both have been nominated several times – hopefully they’ll bring home the gold this year.

The folks at Tasting Table offer the following Denver discovery at

“For lemon-focused mastery that doesn’t require months of patience,  consider the char: Give your lemon a quick kiss of heat before you squeeze the  juice into your favorite dish. We enjoyed the technique in Denver at The Kitchen, where a blistered lemon wedge supplied robust  acidity and concentrated floral sweetness to a plate of raw oysters.”
